Grandmother’s Flower Garden

(July 2003) The red clay of Georgia is no match for Grandmother as her flowers thrive for folks to come and see. From old fashion green roses to pink geraniums, red peonies, yellow buttercups, lavender violets, pansies in purple and day lilies in orange, all add a touch of love and space and hope.  But in the center of the garden under the blue hydrangea a secret place fro a small girl’s dreams exists. From the clay she sits on, she forms sculptures of people, animals, elegant serving dishes, and all that her dreams can imagine.  Grandmother shared her garden of flowers with me and a small girl built a memory.
