TURKEY TROT POTTERY

Unique one of a kind pieces by Mary Russell

A philosophy grounded in faith and tradition, realized through clay:

My work has progressed through the traditional wheel thrown pieces back to hand building where I have more freedom to manipulate the clay.  I wanted the clay to speak for itself, therefore, I do not use molds. The “realistic movement” spoke to me as I wanted to see everyday objects in clay.  Then I wondered “why can’t a quilt be made from clay.”

I live in Jasper, Georgia in the midst of the Blue Ridge mountains, and have been working with clay my whole life. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education / Ceramics and a Master’s degree in Christian Education.

I’d love to talk with you about bringing your families memories and traditions to life through clay.  Together, we can turn your precious moments into a cherished family heirloom. I’m also available for exhibits in the Southeastern US.
