My work has progressed through the traditional wheel thrown pieces back to hand building where I have more freedom to manipulate the clay. I wanted the clay to speak for itself, therefore, I do not use molds. The realistic movement spoke to me as I wanted to see everyday objects in clay. Then I wondered why can't a quilt be made from clay. My current series of work focuses on clay being manipulated into “fabric”. From their stacking quilts, rolls of fabric, and carved panels depicting scenes with a quilt as a focal point have been explored. I live in Jasper, Georgia in the midst of the Blue Ridge mountains, and have been working with clay my whole life. I have a Bachelor's degree in Art Education / Ceramics and a Master's degree in Christian Education. Lastly, I'm the past-President of the Sharptop Arts Association. I'd love to talk with you about bringing your families memories and traditions to life through clay. Together, we can turn your precious moments into a cherished family heirloom. I'm also available for exhibits in the Southeastern US. |
